IS YOUR CRUTCH STILL JUST A CRUTCH?

I have said many times when we are emotionally injured a good emotional crutch can be a great thing. Crutches are intended to help us get back on our feet and move forward in life. There are positive crutches such as music, spirituality and exercising and there are negative crutches such as alcohol, overeating and gambling. However even positive crutches can have a negative effect if they are continuously used to avoid or ignore an emotional injury.

If you are using a crutch to cope while addressing an emotional injury it's very important that you understand there is a fine line between owning a crutch and being owned by a crutch. This is the fine line that I want to take a look at today. When you are owning your crutch you are at choice. You choose when you are going to use it, when you are not going to use it and you have no problem stopping the use of it. When you are owned by your crutch there is no choice and its use is no longer to support you but it is for the sake of survival. Continue>>
